Detailed Pipes, and Air Reservoirs for a Class 03 Locomotive - OO Gauge (SET 39)

Brake Pipes for both ends of one Class 03 shunting locomotive, also includes high level brake pipes, air reservoirs and compressor casing.

The UNPAINTED pack includes:-

2 - Air Brake Pipes (BP) - Red
4 - Main Reservoir Air Pipes (MRP) - Yellow
4 - Buffer beam BP and MRP feed pipes - White
2 - Vacuum Hoses with hose dummy bracket (VAC)

In addition this pack also includes the following detail parts for air-braked Class 03s:-

2 - Air Reservoirs (for mounting each side on the running board in front on the cab)
1 - Air Compressor casing (for mounting on the right side running board towards the radiator end)
3 - Lamp box units for the radiator end #
3 - Lamp box units for the cab end #
2 - High Level Air Brake Pipe Sets ##

Also included on the sprue are:-
2 - Dummy Screw Couplings/Hooks
4 - Buffer Beam end pieces for early Bachmann Class 03 models with/without tension lock couplings
2 - Buffer Beam end pieces for use with later Bachmann Class 03 models with/without NEM sockets

# The Lamp box units are required when fitting the high level brake pipes because the lamp box by the high level pipes needs to be moved (as was on the real locos)

## A number of Class 03 locomotives were fitted with high level air brake pipes for use when shunting EMU stock fitted with similar high level pipes; examples of locos so-fitted were 03059, 03063, 03073, 03078, 03084, 03086, 03089, 03094, 03112, 03152, 03158, 03162, 03179, 03180, 03197, 03371, 03397 and 03399. 

Until the 1960s the majority of BR locomotives had provision only for Vacuum Train brakes. From the early 1960s the standard air brake system was introduced, therefore it was common to see locos and rolling stock dual braked (i.e. fitted with both vacuum and air brakes). The use of vacuum brakes on BR was phased out during the 1980s. 

For dual braked locos, fit the air brake and vacuum brake pipes.
For vacuum only braked locos, fit just the vacuum brake hoses.

Notes:-

• There were many variations between members of the Class 03 fleet in pipe configurations, fitting and placement; therefore it is recommended to refer to photographs of the real thing when fitting these parts.
• Please refer to the attached pipes and cables guide document.
• The parts are positioned on the sprue according to their position, either cab end or radiator end of the Class 03 locomotive, refer to the sprue picture.
• All pipes have a 0.7mm peg that can be fitted into a drilled hole in the buffer beam, alternatively the peg can be cut-off and the pipe attached with a small amount of adhesive.
• These parts are delicate and may not be suitable for use with couplings fitted, especially on tighter radius curves.
• The pipes are supplied unpainted, please refer to pictures for typical colours.
• Top-Tip - use a light coat of white primer first, and paint the pipes before removing them from the sprue.
